On November 9, 2017, Handong Global University (HGU) (President Chang, Soon Heung) signed an agreement of academic exchange and cooperation with Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) (Interim President Anisimov) of Russia. HGU President Chang, Soon Heung, HGU Professor Lee, Tack-Dong, FEFU Interim President Anisimov, and FEFU Vice President Koshel attended the signing ceremony during the fifth Korea-Russia University President Forum at Sungkyunkwan University.
The two universities assured to exchange students and professors, promote joint researches and conferences, initiate joint cultural programs, share academic exchanges, etc.
President Chang said, "On top of raising global leaders with globalization education, HGU is also focused on cultivating professional individuals prepared for the fourth Industrial Revolution by providing entrepreneurship and start-up business education, converged and integrated education, etc." He continued, "I am glad to begin mutual exchanges with FEFU of Russia for various collaborations including Korean Studies."
"The signing of this agreement has become the starting point for full-scale exchanges between the two universities, and I expect that we grow together through the collaboration that maximizes strengths of each university," said Interim President Anisimov.
Founded in 1899, FEFU is a private university of 23,000 students located in Vladivostok. FEFU, also a global university of 2,300 international students, strives to cultivate leaders for the development of Korea-Russia relationship as it launched the first school of Korean Studies around the world.
Meanwhile, President Chang opened new possibilities to broaden exchanges with universities in the Russian region and expand academic exchanges between the two countries during this Korea-Russia University President Forum.
