-Handong Global University hosts the Appropriate Technology-based Entrepreneurship (ATET) Workshop in Pokhara, Nepal.
-Various business ideas were proposed for Pokhara and the surrounding region.
Handong Global University (President Chang, Soon Heung) held Appropriate Technology-based Entrepreneurship Training (ATET) for students of Pokhara University and affiliating organizations, hosting twelve teams in total, February 5th – 8th, 2018.
ATET is a workshop conducted by the Nepal Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship Center (NITEC), one of the scientific and technological support programs for developing countries supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT. By promoting appropriate technology-based entrepreneurship skills among undergraduate students, the workshop fulfills its aim to accelerate the development of local communities throughout Nepal.
56 undergraduate students from Nepal’s Pokhara University and affiliating organizations attended the workshop. Faculty members of both Handong Global University and Pokhara University, and those who have previously completed ATET, participated in the workshop as well. The ‘Food Truck Development and Business’ and ‘Smart Poultry Farming System Development’ teams were prized for their excellent business proposals; each will receive research funding.
The curriculum of the workshop includes practical programs such as social entrepreneurships, problem definition, business models, business plans, and market research.
Since 2008, HGU’s Green Technology and Entrepreneurship Center for Community has conducted various programs in an effort to help support developing countries through organizations such as Global Engineering Project, Scientific and Technological Support Program for Developing Countries, Global Social Service Business, Engineering Design Academy, Creative Design Contest for the Isolated 90%, UNESCO UNITWIN, and the Nepal Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship Center (NITEC).
