A community of devotion and passionate faith, combined with prayer and study of God's Word. It is a community that does not seek honor and privileges from the world, but rather the honor and blessing of God, along with His glory and His will above all else.

A mission and vision that are clear and that permeate every part of the university - its classrooms and instruction, its dormitories and campus life, its clubs and programs, and its academic focus.

An exceptional faculty, nearly all of whom have their Ph.D. or highest degrees from some of the best schools in the world: Harvard, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and MIT, to name just a few. Professors teach and serve their students full-time. Graduate assistants do not take the place of real professors in the classroom. Our faculty is global-minded and cross-cultural in both experience and spirit, most having studied and earned graduate degrees from various places abroad. Handong currently has approximately 25 international professors who are native speakers of English, with a goal of recruiting a total of 40 within the next three years.

Progressive educational reform in Korea. We offer an education that requires a minimum of two years of computer and English language study, which is part of the practical preparation essential for the global and information-driven 21st century.

Education of the whole individual. We offer education that focuses as much on character formation and social development as it does on intellectual development.

Unique programs and partnerships, including numerous international exchange programs with colleges and universities all over the world: from North and South America to Asia and Eastern Europe. Numerous opportunities abound for travel and study abroad, as well as service and missions, guaranteed to broaden one's cultural, academic, and spiritual experience.

Team professors and the team system. All students are placed into small groups of approximately 20-25 students, called "Teams," which meet weekly for chapel attendance, work-duty, and for social and recreational events. All teams attend special retreats together, at least once each semester, for fellowship and for fun. The teams exist for the support, nurture, and care

of all students. Team professors serve as academic advisors, counselors, and mentors, and often become trusted friends to their team students.

Intellectual freedom within a common framework of Christian commitment. Handong engages in a diligent search for knowledge and truth that is not limited to one denominational or academic view, one that is not limited by the world's assumptions and biases which often deny truth and the existence of God.

In sum, students will find an environment that is both spiritually and intellectually challenging at Handong Global University, where Christian beliefs are integrated into classroom study and training programs of all kinds. Handong is a school where faith is applied actively to all parts of life and study, and where faith confronts ― rather than ignores ― the tough issues of our day.
