Introduction

International Studies, Languages & Literature

The School of International Studies, Languages and Literature (SISLL) seeks to provide students with extensive knowledge in international studies, international communication, and foreign languages and literature. Providing our students with a thorough understanding of other cultures and the dynamics of the globalized world are major goals of our program. We further seek to instill in our students the ability for critical thought, keen cultural analysis, cross-cultural communication, awareness of international affairs, and the knowledge and confidence necessary to succeed in the globalized 21st century.
Although English is a strong focus of both our department and university, our School also provides foreign language classes in Chinese, Japanese, French, German, and Spanish.

Curriculum & Career Prospects

All SISLL students must carry double-major. With this dual focus students are prepared to meet the needs of our emerging global society. The SISLL major furthermore provides a good balance between theoretical and practical knowledge. Graduates have many options for career choices and are prepared for work many fields: international relations, public service, global corporations and organizations, diplomatic services, interpretation, translation, international business, academia, and many others.
