Introduction
THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF GLOBAL MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP(GGML) is located at Handong Global University, in Pohang, South Korea. Pohang City is part of a tri-city industrial belt spanning Taegu, Pohang, and Ulsan on the Southeastern coastline of the Korean peninsula. Handong Global University is a nationally recognized academic institution, which draws highly competitive students from the top 5% of all graduating high school students in Korea. Handong¡¯s distinctions include the first International Law School in Asia, carefully developed programs catered for students and scholars from developing countries, and innovative professional graduate programs that provide unique international depth and breath.
The Global Leadership MBA program is another first of its kind in Asia. This innovative business program seeks to meet the increasing demand for management business professionals who possess a solid grasp of Information Technologies, International Business Law, and Global Management. Renown for its advance Internet and wireless communication products and services, Korea is a hotbed for developing and testing information technologies. Korea is also the foreground for much of East Asian diplomacy, negotiations, and economic policy development. Much of this experience has come from its strategic location between Japan, China, and North Korea. The successful recovery from the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997, ongoing tensions with North Korea, and increasing regional trade partnerships with companies in China and Japan are a few things that makes Korea an ideal place for the study of International Business and Management in Asia.
An important component to graduate training across all graduate programs at Handong University is the emphasis on leadership and global stewardship. As a Christ-centered university, Handong University seeks to shape global leaders who will promote social good in their workplaces, communities, and in other countries around the world. To this end, academic training is buttressed by spiritual and character-building training as well, both of which are embodied by the Handong Honor Code for personal excellence. In order to be effective leaders, we believe business professionals must learn the importance of stewardship of people (respect for others, integrity, and social responsibility), resources (conservation, sustainable development, and environment conscious), and opportunities (emphasis on research and innovation; to bring best practices to less-developed countries; bridge the knowledge-divide).
