To prepare its students for the globalized world of the twenty-first century,
Handong actively establishes numerous exchange programs with universities and
organizations throughout the world. Through such programs students from Handong
and abroad are able to learn from each other, work together, and develop relationships
of understanding and good-will. Minds are expanded, leadership skills are developed,
and essential knowledge and experience acquired.
Handong Global University is the first Asian university to become a
GEEE member.
The Global Engineering Education Exchange (GE3) is an international program
designed specifically for engineering students and administered by the Institute
of International Education. The GE3 program provides opportunities for students
at member institutions to receive academic credit for courses taken at other
member schools. Students pay regular tuition to their home school, and maintain
regular student status.
The program is supported by the AT&T Foundation, the National Science Foundation,
and the U.S. Department of Education, as well as its member institutions and
several corporations.
Students are able to study in any country overseas where there is a participating
GE3 university. More than 50 universities--covering most regions of the world--are
currently participating; and new members from a variety of countries continue
to join the program.

Korean Cultural Studies Program
Handong also hosts a special program for Korean students and international students
who live abroad--whether from North America, Europe, the Middle East, South
America, or elsewhere. The program is designed to share Korean culture with
Korean foreign students who might have had little opportunity to understand
their cultural background and roots; however non-Korean students from foreign
countries also participate. The program focuses on Korean language study, cultural
activities, field trips, technology training, and much more. The program takes
place during the Summer vacation.
HIIT-Handong Institute for Information Technology
HIIT was begun in late 1999 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to assist Korean-Argentines
with learning technology that will provide them marketable skills for employment
and business. Computer classes will be a primary focus initially. Professors,
older students, and graduates from Handong serve at the Institute for one semester
or year.
U.S. Home-Stay Program
This program sends Handong students to America and other nations to live with
native families and to learn about their culture and traditions. Students usually
participate in pairs or groups and also serve in local churches or schools as
part of their learning experience.
