Handong Global University (President Dosoung Choi) has been accredited by the Ministry of Education for the ‘2022 International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS).’ The period of accreditation will be for 3 years until February 2026.
The IEQAS is implemented with the purpose of attracting excellent international students and enhancing the global competency of Korean students by ‘accrediting’ universities with outstanding international capabilities. Universities are accredited upon receiving a positive evaluation of their international activities, including the university’s strategy for international education, international exchange activities, international environment and support infrastructure, and education and support for international students.
Through IEQAS accreditation, Handong Global University will be granted preferential benefits when applying for the Global Korean Scholarship project, and international students will enjoy simplified procedures and eased standards when applying for a student visa. Additionally, the accreditation results will be disclosed both domestically and internationally to foreign governments and the ‘Study in Korea’ program so that it may be used as credible formation for international students when they choose a university.
Since the founding of the university, Handong Global University has aimed to ‘nurture global, talented individuals.’ For this purpose, the university has been providing various international programs based on exchange agreements with more than 200 universities in 60 countries. Currently, there are about 250 international students from more than 74 countries, and Handong has developed a suitable academic environment for international students by providing 100% English major programs, guaranteed on-campus residence for international students, and Korean language and culture programs. In addition, Handong has been providing a holistic education that cultivates leadership and upright character through a unique team system and the Honor Code (which includes a non-proctored exam system).
