Handong Global University named this new happy dorm, ‘Ha Yongjo Dormitory’. On February 27, at the lobby of Happy Dormitory, HGU had a groundbreaking ceremony and service. About 300 people attended the ceremony including: wife and relatives of the late Pastor Ha; President Soon-Heung Chang; Honorary President, Younggil Kim; the Pastor of Onnuri Church, Jaehoon Lee; elders and saints of Onnuri Church; professors; staff; students; and parents.
This event was prepared in commemoration of the late Pastor Ha Yongjo, founder of Onnuri Church and Chairman of the Board of Handong Global University. He contributed greatly to the churches of Korea and the development of Handong Global University. The newly completed Happy Dorm will be called ‘Ha Yongjo Dormitory’.

President Soon-Heung Chang said, “During last twenty-two years, all of us served as light and salt under the grace of God. When we look back at all the difficulties and hardships, we could not help but remember the late Pastor Ha Yongjo. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Handong Global University from September 1994 to August 2011. With his support, he collected about 19.2 billion won for HGU. Whenever our school faced difficulties in financially and faced the uncertainty of the opening our school, he gave great help. In addition, even though he had a hard time personally due to helping our school, he said by helping Handong, our church revived. HGU was the root of blessing. Faith is an adventure. Let’s bring the best sacrifices to God. Give all of the best things for God.”
President Chang added, “We, the members of Handong will remember his gratitude, his great achievements, and his sacrificial spirit through the ‘Ha Yongjo Dormitory’. Pastor Ha said, “Light reveals darkness and salt never gets rotten in the smelly places. Christians are like this.” We will always remember his teachings and we will serve as salt and light.”

The Pastor of Onnuri Church, Jaehoon Lee, said in his sermon, “Pastor Ha was a courageous leader even though he was faced with daunting challenges and difficulties with his genuine calling for the Kingdom of God. His sacrifice and devotion show that he walked life’s road like Jesus Christ. I sincerely hope and pray that the students of Handong will be the greatest leaders, like Pastor Ha”

The 10th dormitory that was established in Handong Global University is 8,464m². The new dorm accommodates 538 people in 136 rooms and cost 13.8 billion won. Each room accommodates four people. There is a seminar room, a clinic, a prayer room, and a community lounge in the dorm.
