Handong University (President Soon-Heung Chang) publishes a report on the ‘Africa and Developing Countries’ project, further improving HGU’s educational cooperation activities and business achievements. The project continues in developing nations from across four continents: Africa, Asia, and Central America and South America.
‘Africa and Developing Countries’ is one of ten projects that have been promoted since the inauguration of President Soon-Heung Chang in 2014, with full support and active participation.

In the report, the results of international development cooperation projects underway in 19 developing countries also include Handong’s ‘African week and Asian week events,’ which involve campus wide participation. In addition, the report contains the results of the training for public officials, professors, primary students, and university students.
For many years, Handong Global University has provided developing countries with international development cooperation opportunities, such as entrepreneurship training and joint university education programs. Both these and others, are currently part of UNITWIN, LINK, ACE, CK, and other university integrated projects.

On May 2015, Former Secretary General Ki-moon Ban of the United Nations stated during the UN Academic Impact Forum held in Seoul regarding the International Development Cooperation Project of HGU, “Handong University is an example of opening up the future of education through entrepreneurship training.” Likewise, Abadula Gemeda, Speaker of the House of People's Representatives, the lower chamber of the Ethiopian Parliament, stated, “Ethiopia needs training to encourage entrepreneurship, and wishes to take part the UNITWIN opportunity offered by Handong.”
In 2007, Handong was designated as UNITWIN hosted by UNESCO in order to strengthen the sustainable development capacity of developing nations. Not much later, in September of 2009, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) concluded an official intern recruitment agreement with Handong, a first among Korea’s universities.
In addition Handong University was appointed by the former UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon as a Global Hub College of Capacity-building in Higher Education Systems. In this, Handong is helping fulfil the 5th Principle of the UN Academic Impact, of which was established in November 2010.

Through projects such as ‘Africa and Developing Countries,’ President Soon-Heung Chang and Handong University will continue to spread the spirit of "Why not change the world," and "Share what you have learnt," to the people of developing nations suffering from poverty, famine and disease, helping them to restore and develop their communities.
