Current Handong University President Chang Soon Heung has started a new term. President Chang will fulfill his new term as Handong University’s 6^th president; the four-year term is held from February 1^st, 2018 to January 31^st, 2022.

President Chang Soon Heung graduated Seoul University with a major in nuclear engineering in 1976, and received his master’s and doctorate degree from MIT. In 1982, he was appointed as a professor of KAIST, and consecutively filled various posts, such as Dean of Academic Affairs, Vice President for Administration and Development, and Vice President for Education and Scholarship. On February 1^st, 2014, he was appointed as Handong University’s 5^th President, and has been continuing his term to present.    

During his term as the 5^th president, President Chang Soon Heung has fulfilled many successful external outcomes including: ▲Ranking ‘A’ (the best) in University Structural Reform Evaluation ▲Selected for many national projects such as the Ministry of Education. ▲Starting construction for the Ban Ki-Moon UNAI Global Education Center and ▲Supervision of 66th UN NGO Conference. 

Especially, Handong University has been selected for several important projects such as the LINC+ project, PRIME project, Software (SW) Focused University Support project, Women’s Engineering Development project, Secondary School Normalization University Support project, and others, and has concentrated on and successfully provided many opportunities for students.

Also, there were many internal accomplishments. On the 2^nd semester of 2015, Handong University enforced a free-semester system for the first time within domestic universities. This system acknowledges several external activities that can be counted towards class credits, such as ‘domestic-abroad’ placements, foundation activities, projects, education from foreign universities, overseas social service work, language acquisition, and more.

In addition, during his term in office, President Chang Soon-Heung made an academic interchange agreement with Hebrew University and held an international academic conference in celebration of the 500^th anniversary of the Reformation.
