Handong Global University (President Chang Soon-Heung) will lead the 11/15 Earthquake and Geothermal Power Generation Joint Research Committee Opening Ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on April 2 in the Campus Chamber (Hyundong Hall 214). A joint research group consisting of universities, research institutes, citizens, social organizations, media companies and legal experts will start their regular activities after holding the opening ceremony.
The ceremony will proceed in the order of introducing guests, commissioning the research director, greetings, explanations of research team management, and discussion of future plans. During the event, other than the chairmen of the research committee, main guests include Handong Global University President Chang Soon-Heung, Pohang-si Mayor Lee Kang Deok and Pohang-si Chairman Moon Myeong Ho, attending the ceremony with a word of greeting.
President Chang Soon-Heung said, "The joint research committee will seek to understand the citizens' interests and secure safety by collecting and analyzing the principles of the [geothermal] power plant, overseas case data analysis, forums, and seminars. This will play a role in networking the community with scientific and technical aspects of the investigation, and will try to secure sympathy and trust of the community by cooperating and communicating the investigation process.” He also stated, "The research team will make efforts to find joint measures in the community, such as restoration efforts according to survey results."
