On April 4, 2018 Handong Global University (President Soon Heung Jang) and NAUH, Now Action & Unity for Human Right (President Seong-ho Ji) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in hope of sealing cooperation efforts for Korea’s reunification.

The signing ceremony was held in President Jang’s office at Handong. The presidents of the two institutions attended the signing ceremony in the company of director of Handong Korea Unification Center Young Chun Park, director of Peaceful Unification Research Center Myung–Hee Jun, dean of International Affairs Won-Gon Park, and administrative director of NAUH Sung Ae Kim.

With the signing of this agreement, the two institutions will work closely together with a common goal of Korea’s reunification through various programs and businesses. These programs will include establishment of environments for reunification, hosting reunification related seminars and research programs, and the formation of a social consensus for reunification, etc.

President Soon Heung Jang remarked, “Handong is now partnered with NAUH, led by President Seong-ho Ji, who actively speaks for human rights in North Korea and for Korea’s reunification. He was invited to the State of the Union Address delivered by President Trump,” and he added, “Through close cooperation with NAUH, students and professors of Handong will be able to have a deeper insight of North Korea and reunification issues, and to have a heart of prayer for Korea’s reunification.”

NAUH first began in 2010 with a group of young adults from the Korean peninsula and other countries. NAUH is a human rights organization speaking out for human rights in North Korea. NAUH has appealed to the international society through various activities, such as ‘Street Campaign,’ ‘Talk Show,’ and ‘Reenactment of Jang-Ma-Dang (market in North Korea)’ to reveal the cruel reality of North Korea and it’s absence of human rights.
