Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Israel's independence, Handong Global University (President Chang Soon-Heung) and the Embassy of Israel cooperated to host the special culture event, 'Israel Day' on campus. 'Israel Day' is a day to inform the history of Israel and experience the culture of Israel.
'Shalom! We meet the holy ground at Handong' was the topic for the Handong Global University and the Embassy of Israel that hosted this event which proceeded for five days from October 22nd until 26th. Students were able to participate in different programs that helped them to know the history and history of Israel on campus.
During the event, ▲ Israel's historical illustration exhibition ▲ Promotional booth activity ▲ Having lunch with the Israel diplomat ▲ Lecture on Israel startup ▲Making Israel food program ▲Playing Israel movies ▲ Introduction of information about studying abroad, etc, various programs were scheduled and done.

Also, during the event, the Embassy of Israel visited our campus, interacted with the students and introduced Israel. At the opening ceremony on the 25th of October, President Chang Soon-Heung, Chaim Choshen the ambassador of Israel, Officials of Embassy of Israel and the former UN ambassador Lee Si-Young attended. On this spot, President Chang Soon-Heung delivered the appreciation plaque to Chaim Choshen.
President Chang Soon-Heung mentioned "Israel has shown the face of a small but strong nation in the course of crisis and challenge. In particular, I think that the Hotspah spirit, the Rosh Gaddol spirit that boldly challenges to solve the problem, the Tikun Olam spirit which tries to make the world a better place, is a great example for young people of this age." and he continued, "Handong Global University is also a small but strong university, which strives to create a problem-solving and challenging spirit towards its neighbors with the motto of 'Why not change the world?' I also hope that through the continuous exchange of the two institutions and this event, two countries' mutual understanding will deepen, cooperation will be sought to encourage each other's challenges."
Kim Sung-Young, the Student Body Head of Research said, "Through the programs prepared by the Israeli Embassy, I felt the careful consideration and sincerity to allow the students to experience various Israel." and continued, "It was not an arbitrary event of the host but an event prepared together. Perhaps this event which started at Handong Global University has become a 'history' where Korea and Israel will stand together as comrades and friends."

Meanwhile, Handong Global University is strengthening the exchanges and cooperation with Israel. Since the exchange began in 2015 with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which has produced eight Nobel laureates, there has been a continued promotion of exchanges, including the ▲ agreement of academic exchange in March 2017 and ▲opening of the Global Center of Handong Global University in the Hebrew University in July 2017.
When Handong Global University suffered from the earthquake in November last year, Israeli Ambassador, Chaim Choshen visited campus a week before to meet with President Chang Soon-Heung and other professor to discuss ways to promote academic interchange. He visited Handong Global University again where restoration work was underway and expressed his condolences to foreign students and gave them warm words of encouragement.
