Handong Global University (President Chang Soon-Heung) students have formed a team, ‘Pepperoni Pizza’ won first prize in ‘2018 Software Development Security Competition’ hosted by the Ministry of Public Administration and Secrity and organized by the Korean Internet Promotion Agency. In this competition, the theme was to ‘identify security weaknesses hidden in source code and suggest improvement measures’. There were two fields: website and mobile web. There were 151 teams in the website field (287 people) and 79 teams in the mobile web field that participated.
Pepperoni Pizza Team participated in the field of website security and received the grand prize which was The Ministry of Public Administration and Security’s Minister Prize and 2,000,000 KRW. Moon Eui-Geo, Han Bo-Kyeong and Han Sol are students in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering participated in the competition with their Graduation Project topic which was developing a program to detect any security weaknesses on the websites. This led them to achieve excellent result.
Team leader Moon Eui-Geo (School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, 4th year) mentioned, “Our professor in charge gave his full support when we were getting ready for the competition. The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering helped us out actively. I thank them all very much.”
The Professor who was in charge and guided the students mentioned, “It would not have been easy to prepare both for the Graduation Project and the Competition. However, I am so glad that they have participated actively in both work.” And he continued, “I will try my best to help students to solve practical problems and to grow up as software developing professionals.”
