Alumnus Lee Won-dong (School of Law, 2007) who majored in UIL (US & International Law) and International Area Studies at Handong Global University (President Chang, Soon Heung) received the ‘2018 South Korea’s Talented Person Award’ hosted by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity on November 30th.
This prize is awarded to Korean talents who have achieved outstanding accomplishment in finding various aptitudes and talents in various fields, or who appreciate others and share their talents; thus, shining its values.
Alumnus, Lee Won-dong received the South Korea’s Talented Person Award for his achievements in governance, urban regeneration, and international politics even in a difficult family background.
Alumnus Lee, Won-dong was awarded the Minister Award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the English field at a university student mock UN competition to find creative countermeasures against global issues. He also built a variety of experiences related to his major since his undergraduate years such as working as a youth representative of the UN Korean Association. After graduation, he continuously researched with interest in domestic and overseas urban regeneration cases and plans to share local assets.
Winner Lee, Won-dong, who graduated Handong Global University as the top student, completed his master's degree in Political Science from Seoul National University and is currently a Fulbright Scholar at Korea-US Educational Commission and under a Ph.D. in International Politics at the Graduate School of the University of California, Irvine (Irvine).
Alumnus Lee, Won-dong graduate said, "I am very embarrassed, and in fact, the word "talented person" does not fit well with me, but I think what they bought highly was my honest stories and values, and above all, my attitude of trying to do my best in the given constraints.
