On the last 17th, President Chang Soon-heung of Handong Global University discussed about cooperation for Cambodia’s educational development with Minister Hang Chuon Naron of Ministry of Education of Cambodia and President Hor Peng of National University of Management during his visit to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
On this occasion, President Chang Soon-heung stressed the importance of universities for innovation in higher education and emphasized the need for project-based education to identify and solve realistic problems in Cambodia. In this regard, Minister Hang Chuon Naron strongly sympathized, and President Chang Soon-heung suggested that some universities in Cambodia should be selected as pilot universities for project-based education and problem-based education.
In addition, the President introduced the UNESCO UNITWIN program which is consistently being performed in Cambodia by Handong Global University and, in particular, explained about the special education curriculum that Handong has provided by inviting Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) and National University of Management (NUM) students from last 14th to 19th.

President Chang Soon-heung said, "The university should take the lead in finding and resolving problems in the region and the nation. To do this, we should focus on project-based education and train people with problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, I will work more closely with the Ministry of Education and local education staffs of Cambodia to find out and solve the problem."
"Cambodia is focused on innovation of education system for national development and education aimed for students as well as teachers is necessary for this purpose," said Minister Hang Chuon Naron. "We look forward to further cooperation for training to develop problem solving abilities with Handong Global University, which is contributing to the development of Cambodia through cooperation with various Cambodian universities."
On the other hand, President Chang Soon-heung visited Cambodia, one of the countries that are eligible for UNIWIN project, on a 3 nights 4 days schedule starting from the last 16th. On the 17th, he visited the Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia, and met Chairman Sam-Ang Sam and other chief staffs to share a confabulation and signed agreements to strengthen cooperation. In addition, he also met with the ambassador Oh Nakyeong of the Cambodia and explained the current progress of Handong Global University’s UNITWIN business in Cambodia in detail and requested for cooperation. On the 18th, he visited the National University of Management in Cambodia and held a meeting with President Hor Peng and conducted lectures for students and professors later on.
