- 80 Cambodian university students participated in business simulation and technology start-up
As part of UNESCO UNIWIN project, Handong Global University (President Chang Soon-heung) held a joint curriculum at the Himawari Hotel in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from January 14th to 18th.

Seven professors, including Professor Kim Dae-sik, Joh Dae-Yeon, Joe I-Soo, Lee,Yujin, Yi, Jae Sun, Kim, Ah-Ram and Jeong Doo-hee, from Handong Global University conducted lectures on two topics of business simulations and technology start-ups for 80 university students in Cambodia, including students from National University of Management (NUM) and Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC). In addition, 10 students from the Handong University, who had received pre-education, were assigned to the business simulation and technology start-up classes, and the group worked with the local students to improve the efficiency of the program by performing tasks as a helper for team work activities and presentations.

Technology start-ups is a curriculum for discovering business ideas in the social problems of Cambodia and planning and presenting business ideas by team by applying marketing and financial accounting theories. The business simulation is a curriculum that teaches the practice of Excel automation program operate businesses efficiently and learn solving problems using it and present about it by each team.

In particular, we added a new curriculum and provided a more diverse education to the Cambodian students by introducing a new business curriculum in the course of the previous technology innovation curriculum. In addition, Professor Joh Dae-Yeon of Handong Global University conducted a special lecture on the block chain for students taking business simulations in accordance with industry trends that FinTech based on the 4th industry is drawing attention, making it a more meaningful time.

Vice-president Kim Dae-sik, who was in charge of the entire curriculum, said, "Through this Creatinnovation joint curriculum, we hope that university students who will grow into future leaders of Cambodia will have a good opportunity to develop and practice concrete strategies and means to save the economy of Cambodia."

"This program provided the best opportunity to approach and solve problems with team members to devise creative ideas that would be of practical benefit to the community as well as to the nation," said Gimseng Kong, a student at the National University of Management of Cambodia.". In addition, student Li Kimkanika said, "I now know clearer about the start-up technology, how to launch new products using it, and how to solve problems related to it."

On January 18 (Fri.), the last day of the program, President Chang Soon-heung of Handong Global University attended the final announcement and awards ceremony. On the 17th, the day before, President Chang Soon-heung introduced the UNESCO UNITWIN program which Handong Global University has been conducting in Cambodia for the last 5 years during his visit to Minister Hang Chuon Naron of Ministry of Education, and in particular, explained about the special curriculum conducted from last 14th to 18th by inviting students from Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) and National University of Management (NUM). He also discussed closely on ways to improve Cambodian education in the future.

※ The UNITWIN joint curriculum is aimed at promoting the sustainable development capacity of universities in developing countries through the implementation of mid-to-long term joint curriculum programs for Cambodia, Nepal, Mongolia, Myanmar and Uzbekistan. It is a business to cultivate core management talents that can contribute to their countries development with the understanding of international economic and managerial environments. In Cambodia, it is aimed at establishing foundation for education and various certification programs in Cambodian universities and nurturing potential start-ups. In 2013, the first business agreement with Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia was signed with Cambodia, and we are implementing a joint curriculum focused on start-ups and expansion of cooperative institutions since 2014.

* As part of the Ministry of Education's ODA program, Handong Global University has signed agreements with universities in developing countries, centering on the government's key partners, among the low-income countries classified by the World Bank, to strengthen each university’s capacity, and has established a regional base center in developing countries. Handong Global University is currently helping 62 universities and 16 institutions in 30 developing countries (as of December 2018).
