Handong Global University (President Chang Soon-Heung), as part of UNESCO/UNITWIN program, has carried out Rwanda economic development strategy formulation and professor competency enhancement seminar with members of IPRC Kigali of University of Rwanda from January 28th to 31st.
The conference resulted in establishing ‘ICT Master’s Degree Joint Curriculum’ in the University of Rwanda and agreed to implement ‘Next Generation Entrepreneurship Training’ program by mid-August. This program, aiming to ‘train individuals to play a vital role in Rwanda’s economic development’, supports Rwanda University’s education in starting business and open lectures regarding entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, Handong Global University has signed a bilateral UNITWIN Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with the University of Rwanda in August 14th, 2018 for curriculum on business-starting and entrepreneurship.
Youngsup Kim, Dean of the Graduate School of International Developmental Collaboration, who has participated in this program said, “I hope this seminar will further enhance the competencies of Rwanda IPRC professors, contributing to strengthening the education foundation of Rwanda.”
Also, President James Gashyumba of IPRC said, “Handong Global University’s UNITWIN program will become a bedrock to Rwandan ICT and economic development, contributing to the growth in quality of its general education standard.”
* UNESCO/UNITWIN Programme: Program created by UNESCO in 1992 with the goal of reducing the knowledge gap by supporting University education and research institutions through a network of Universities between advanced and developing countries, raising the self-sustaining capabilities of developing countries. Handong Global University was selected as the first UNITWIN supervising University of Republic of Korea in 2007.
