(Photo) Global Entrepreneurship Training(GET) was held at Methodist University College in Ghana
The Ministry of Education and Handong Global University have held Global Entrepreneurship Training Program(hereinafter referred as GET) as part of *UNESCO/UNITWIN Programme at the Methodist University College in Accra, Ghana from January 28th to February 2nd.
The GET program, which started in 2008 as Handong Global University was selected as UNESCO/UNITWIN University, is conducted in order to foster working-level personnel for international development cooperation in developing countries. The program has so far produced approximately 3000 graduates from 11 different countries including Ghana, Kenya, Peru, and Ethiopia, with about 100 participants of civil servants, corporate figures, professors, and prospective entrepreneurs taking part in this 23rd program.
This GET program was conducted with ▲Courses crucial in establishing business plans and operating a business, such as entrepreneurship, entrepreneur strategy, accounting and finances, organization and human resources management, and intellectual property ▲Small group discussion debate ▲Item creation and business plan feedback, holding an Entrepreneurship-Promotion Competition on the last day.
A total of 7 teams participated in the competition, presenting contents such as Farm Hub (Networking business with farm owners), GET 2 Recycling (Greenhouse business making recyclable plastic), Afrikcare Organics (Organic body soap and cream business), Afrifour (African-Art design fabrics business), Essien Chili Pepper (High-end chili pepper business), Hope Palm Oil (Chemical-free palm oil business), and Wheellspro (Idle freight/passenger transportation and forwarding/passenger networking business).
Essien Etimbuk Tom, a Nigerian national who achieved outstanding performance in the Entrepreneurship-Promotion Competition, has said “a week-long GET program has been a life-changing event, through which I have experienced that Entrepreneurship is not only simple knowledge but also a Mindset”. He also exclaimed, “Now I, as a true entrepreneur, return to my country to create new businesses and act as a leader in reforming our people’s consciousness.
* UNESCO/UNITWIN Programme: Program created by UNESCO in 1992 with the goal of reducing the knowledge gap by supporting University education and research institutions through a network of Universities between advanced and developing countries, raising the self-sustaining capabilities of developing countries. Handong Global University was selected as the first UNITWIN supervising University of Republic of Korea in 2007.
