On April 10th, Handong Global University (President Jang, Soon-Heung) held an orientation and ceremony at Hyoam Chapel Annex for granting the Joshua Scholarship. President Jang and 130 scholarship recipients participated in the ceremony. The ceremony opened with an introduction explaining the Joshua scholarship story, then proceeded with a word of encouragement from President Jang, followed with the delivery of the scholarships, and guidance with essential facts regarding the scholarship. The ceremony closed with a Q&A session.
HGU had started the Joshua scholarship fundraising campaign in order to support MK’s (Missionary Kids) and PKs (Pastor Kids) who are in need. For this semester, a sum totaling 125,118,000 won has been provided for 139 MKs and PKs. Since the spring semester of 2016, this fundraising campaign has been able to support a total of 943 students with over 934,745,000 won.

During his words of encouragement, President Jang stated, “Having many MK and PK students here and being able to support them is a blessing to Handong, because it means support for pastors and missionaries who are serving the Kingdom of God.” He added, “We will continue to sow into and dream for Handong students, and like Joshua, they will rise up as leaders.”
Also, recipients of the Joshua Scholarship are matched with scholarship supporters through a one-to-relationship. Students write letters to their supporters, which include a word of appreciation and prayer requests. The ties between students and supporters will continue through participation in several programs, such as the annual meeting ceremony that is held for those who wish to meet each other.
