Handong Global University (President Jang Soon-Heung) hosted the Global Entrepreneurship Training program (GET) from July 1st - 6th in Yardu, Cameroon.

After Handong Global University was selected as a UNESCO’s UNITWIN University in 2007, the GET program was established to foster work-ready talent for international development cooperation in developing countries.

About a hundred people, including government employees, entrepreneurs, and startups participating from Cameroon, Congo, and the Central African Republic, Professor Kim Gihong, Professor Scott Lincoln, and Professor Edward Purnell, as well as other coordinators and student assistance researchers from Handong Global University and from Cameroon worked together.

The program consists of professor  lectures followed by hands-on practice in small group gatherings. Starting with Professor Kim Gihong’s ‘Mind Set’ lecture, lectures on creative innovation, finance and accounting, business law, ethics, and marketing continued. Also, cultural exchange and communication between Korea and the central African region were conducted through the Culture Night program. Participants were evaluated by a review panel after a practice for creating business items and preparing business plans. On July 6th, the last day, the program was completed with a business proposal contest.

After GET, on July 8th and 9th, student assistance researchers from Handong Global University and Cameroon planned and directed the JET (Junior Entrepreneurship Training) program for Cameroon’s high school students, and the SET (Senior Entrepreneurship Training) program for government officials, CEOs, and heads of institutions.

The GET program, this year being its 24th anniversary, has achieved notable progress in strengthening the ability of developing countries to increase their capabilities through the reform of entrepreneurship education, and training leaders and local global entrepreneurs from economically developing countries. GET has produced about 3,000 graduates from 11 countries, including Korea, Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Peru.
