Handong Global University (President Jang Soon-Heung) held entrepreneurship training in Ray, Papua, New Guinea, July 1st - 5th as part of the UNITWIN project.

The entrepreneurship training program was held at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology with the aim to reform the awareness of Papua New Guinea’s university community, and help them strengthen their capacity for sustainable development. The program was conducted with about forty people including Papua New Guinea university students, faculty and local entrepreneurs.

Three faculty members, including program participant Professor Sung Hyun-Mo of Handong Global University, held lectures and consultations to encourage students coming up with business ideas that can lead to social innovation and create realistic models, while raising awareness that they themselves are the main players of economic development.

“Papua New Guinea participants have shown very high interest and enthusiasm in entrepreneurship training, and hopefully they will further cooperate in bringing out Papua New Guinea’s future growth potential. Professors at Handong Global University will continue working to make better programs,” said Professor Joe Lee-Soo of Handong Global University.

Donna Aish, who participated in the program said, “It is a program I would love to recommend to those hoping to become entrepreneurs. The process of checking one’s business items and providing the necessary framework to make it more attractive to consumers is very practical and reliable.”

Located in the interface between Asia Australia and the Pacific islands, Papua New Guinea is a country with abundant energy, mineral resources, and cultural diversity, part of which led to it hosting the APEC summit last year. Also, in April of last year, Handong Global University signed an agreement with three other Universities, along with the Ministry of Education of Papua New Guinea. Handong Global University plans to continue its strong cooperation with Papua New Guinea, with the aim of enhancing high school education and cultivating individuals of talent and ability.
