Handong Global University (President Dosoung Choi) is now providing the Vision-Improvement-Vocation-Advancement (VIVA) program, a career/employment support system tailored to each grade. From the 2022 academic year, the University Job Center has developed and provided the employment support program Again My Job (AMJ) for unemployed alumni members and is currently recruiting for the second AMJ class.
AMJ is an intensive employment support program that provides preliminary counseling for participants in order to analyze the level of preparation each individual is currently at. Then, special lectures and examinations that are individually tailored are provided. Afterward, based on individual counseling history and exam results, participants are given customized employment information. Finally, the program provides personalized consulting in application drafting, interview preparation, etc. to help participants succeed in employment. One graduate who is participating in the program said, “I was at a loss as I had to prepare for employment on my own. It was a very lonely and difficult situation. But I felt very comforted knowing that the university was looking after me even after graduation.”
According to the results of the 2020 employment survey for graduates of higher education institutions, the employment rate for college graduates was 65.1%, which was the lowest since the employment rate in 2011. In order to overcome the effects of COVID-19, Handong Global University is planning to actively help employment by expanding the target audience of its programs from undergraduates to alumni.
In 2023, the HGU University Job Center plans to develop and provide a job adaptation program for students who have successfully been employed.
